Our overall aim is to produce a transputer type system. The specification is for a two word (32bits) header on transmission and a one word header on receive for each message passed between processors irrespective of the number of routers in the path. The interface will use DMA transfers for the main body of the message transfer. This will take most of the task of communication away from the processor in a similar manner to transputer communication. Another feature of the specification is to boot the processor from the link interface. A node could be designed with a minimum of one processor, one interface device (an ALTERA 10k FLEX) and one SDRAM module. If you would like further details of this specification I will be pleased to supply it. Regards, Brian >
