However, work undertaken has revealed a number of limitations due to excessive resource usage, lack of sufficient error handling, reliance on Java serialization, and reliance on now deprecated features of JCSP. These problems reflect badly when considering JCSP Networking in a broader sense beyond the normal desktop. In this talk, a brief overview on how these problems have been overcome is presented. This will be followed by some tutorial examples on how to use JCSP Networking 2.0. This should be familiar to current JCSP Networking users, but new additions to the library should make it easier for novices to get started. The new underlying protocol is also presented, which should enable interoperability between various platforms beyond the Java desktop environment. The new version of JCSP Networking is currently available from the JCSP Subversion repository, under the Networking-2 branch.
