Dear Dave Beckett, During last April a small group of Italian Transputer users met in Milan and decided to establish an Italian Transputer User Group. The inaugural meeting of ItTUG is scheduled to be held at the World Tranputer Congress '94 (WTC '94) that will be held on 5-7 September 1994 at the Villa Erba, Cernobbio, Como (Italy). Since I know that you are maintaining the an Internet data-base which, among other nice things, include the list of the user-groups in the world, I would appreciate very much if you could add our new user-group including the following announcement. (That will appear published in the next issue of Transputing (The TTC Newsletter). Thank you Giovanni Muscato Universita' di Catania viale A. This article formally announces the decision of that meeting. WoTUG (World Transputer User Group) has been supporting the users of transputers since the launch of these microrprocessors in 1984. Since then, several local user groups have been established worldwide, in order to promote a widespread knowledge of the transputer culture. WoTUG and the local groups are dedicated to encouraging scientific and technological communication and discussion of the theory, practice and application of parallel computation, with particular regard to the use of the transputer family of processors and the use of languages such as occam. In this context the Italian Transputer User Group (ItTUG) is born. ItTUG includes in its field of interest all aspects of hardware and software development designed for use in parallel computation, including, in particular, those aspects which further the understanding of the communicating process paradigm. The group will be interdisciplinary in character, and represent the transputer and occam parallel computational activities in industry, research laboratories and educational establishments. Conferences, workshops, tutorials, and any other means which a member of the ItTUG considers appropriate might be organised by the group. ItTUG will cooperate with WoTUG, TTC and the many transputer groups worldwide. The inaugural meeting of ItTUG is scheduled to be held at the World Tranputer Congress '94 (WTC '94) that will be held on 5-7 September 1994 at the Villa Erba, Cernobbio, Como (Italy). WTC '94 registration fee reductions are accorded to the ItTUG members.
