There has been quite a bit of confusion about how to make sure you get a room in the block reserved for IOPADS at the Wyndham. It turns out that I was as confused as anybody. Debbie Huszar, the SC97 Housing Coordinator, has very nicely clarified the situation. I'll explain it with a nested if-then-else. IF you don't care whether or not you stay at the Wyndham, THEN register for SC97 housing using the usual SC97 mechanism. ELSE IF you want to want to stay at the Wyndham in one of the IOPADS block rooms AND you have NOT YET registered for SC97 housing THEN fill out the SC97 housing form and put a big note on it that you are with IOPADS and want a room in the IOPADS block at the Wyndham. Fax it to the Housing Bureau (408-293-3705) and they will send out a confirmation. NOTE: We have to release unassigned rooms from the IOPADS block by October 16, so you should do this SOON. ELSE [you want to want to stay at the Wyndham in one of the IOPADS block rooms AND you HAVE ALREADY registered for SC97 housing] THEN contact Cheryl Little at the Housing Bureau (1-800-726-5673 ext. 1110) so that you can get moved into the IOPADS block. Unfortunately, you may have been booked into another hotel, since the Wyndham has been "sold out" for some time. (The IOPADS block was causing it to be artificially "sold out.") Again, because we have to release assigned rooms from the IOPADS block by October 16, you should do this SOON. Despite my earlier suggestion, you SHOULD NOT call the hotels directly. All hotels have been instructed to direct all requests to the Housing Bureau until October 16. Then it's a free-for-all. I hope that this message clears up the confusion.
