Hmm...I just ran your test on several of our lab machines
and was unable to reproduce your results - it worked fine
every time. Let's take this offline and see if we can get
to the bottom of what's going on, my suspicion is that
you might just need the latest IRIX 6.4 patches for
pthreads.
