It isn't. The vendors have taken up the torch, and there are now vendor optimised implementations on (at least) Digital, IBM, SGI, Sun. This lessens the pressure on the public domain implementors. In any case, measuring interest in MPI by the number of public domain implementations is a very perverse way to do it ! The whole objective of MPI was to make it unnecessary for every grad student to implement her own message passing library. The correct measure of interest/success is the take up among application writers. (And in the procurement specifications for machines). Here MPI seems to be a definite success. -- Jim James Cownie Dolphin Interconnect Solutions +44 117 9071438 http://www.dolphinics.com/toolworks Portable MPI Model Implementation Version 1.1 April, 1997
