<h2>- Open position in parallel CFD in the field of multiphase flow
research -</h2>

<p>The open position will be financed by the Deutsche
Forschungsgesellschaft
(DFG) and is limited in time to the 31. Dezember 1998. In the (very
probable) 
case of prolongation of the project the position can also be prolongated
for 3 years to the 31. Dezember 2001. Applications shoud be sent to

as soon as possible, but not later than 10. Juli 1998.</p>

<p>The position is open from the <b>1. July 1998</b>.<p>

    <dd> 
     <ul>
      <li> development of efficient parallel algorithms for numerical
simulation
         of 3-dimensional, staedy or unsteady, disperse multiphase flows
	 (gas-particle, gas-droplet flows) with strong phase coupling effects
      <li> development, implementation and verification of methods for
         numerical simulation of 2- and 3-dimensional disperse
multiphase flows
	 using the Lagrangian approach; adaptation of numerical methods to
	 Navier-Stokes solvers based on the finite volume discretization
	 method on structured and unstructured grids
      <li> cooperation with other projects of the DFG special research
department
         (DFG-SFB 393) for development aand implementation of efficient
mathematical
	 solution algorithms (CG solver with hierarchical DD preconditioning, 
	 multigrid)
      <li> development of parallel solution algorithms for the
phase-coupled
         problem on massiv parallel machines (MIMD); domain
decomposition
	 methods; parallel Lagrangian solvers
      <li> work on adaptation of existing/commercial pre- and
postprocessing
     </ul> 
  <dt> <b>Qualifications required</b>
    <dd>
     <ul> 
      <li> diploma in the field of CFD or numerical mathematics
      <li> knowledge and experience in the field of
development/implementation
         of finite-volume methods for solving problems in the field of
	 fluid dynamics; knowledge in the field of domain decomposition
	 methods / parallelization of CFD codes on MIMD computers
      <li> usual knowledge in programming in UNIX-based environment and
in
         programming in C (and/or FORTRAN); knowledge of at least one
	 of the standard message passing systems MPI (and/or PVM)
      <li> Further, knowledge on physical phenomena, theoretical
modelling and
         numerical treatment of disperse multiphase flows (gas-particle, 
	 gas-droplet flows) is desirable.
     </ul>
