I have been struggling in the past few days with getting mpich 1.1.0 to run on our alpha machines here. What I am getting after a seemingly clean make, is this: 1. When I try to run something with -np 1 - all is well. 2. When I run with -np 2 or more, I get an almost immediate response 'Permission denied.' followed, after a long wait, by 'Timeout in making connection to remote process on noline:0'. The machine noline is the local node and the machines.alpha file is correctly set up. I am attaching a script'ed session of the make and attempts to run. All the information is included. If anyone has hints, ideas what may be wrong, whatever, we'd be very glad to hear them. Many thanks, Amit #include ------------------------------------------------------------- When was the last time you saw a room of people cheer a group of computer science theorists for their significant practical contribution to advancing human knowledge?
