My current experience shows that MPICH, although larger than LAM, is
easier to compile with the current GNU-Win32 B19 with the EGCS compiler.

The problem is linking the libraries. The WinMPICH and WMPI has "*.lib"
files, whereas my systems (laptop) has space and money only for the GNU
gcc and g77 compiler. Purchasing another copy of DevStudio will blow
away my meager budget and also mean that I have to get a new
laptop/harddisk (my laptop is a 16MB, 486DX100 with 500MB harddisk).
