Newsgroups: comp.parallel.mpi,comp.arch.storage,comp.sys.super From: thakur@abacus.mcs.anl.gov (Rajeev Thakur) Subject: new version of ROMIO Organization: Argonne National Laboratory, Chicago, Illinois Date: Mon, 13 Jul 1998 20:7:40 GMT Message-ID: <90036046010460@abacus.mcs.anl.gov> A new version of ROMIO, 1.0.1, is now available. ROMIO is a freely available, portable implementation of MPI-IO, the I/O chapter in MPI-2. New features in this version include: * support for file sizes larger than 2 Gbytes * new ADIO devices tuned for HP's HFS and SGI's XFS file systems * support for NEC SX-4 and a new ADIO device for NEC's SFS file system * support for passing hints to the implementation, such as file striping parameters, sizes of internal buffers, etc. * users no longer need to prefix the filename with the type of file system; ROMIO determines the file-system type on its own * this version of ROMIO is included as part of MPICH 1.1.1 and HP MPI 1.4 ROMIO 1.0.1 runs on the following machines: IBM SP; Intel Paragon; HP Exemplar; SGI Origin2000; NEC SX-4; other symmetric multiprocessors from HP, SGI, DEC, and IBM; and networks of workstations (Sun, SGI, HP, IBM, DEC, Linux, and FreeBSD). Supported file systems are IBM PIOFS, Intel PFS, HP/Convex HFS, SGI XFS, NEC SFS, NFS, and any Unix file system (UFS). ROMIO 1.0.1 works with and is included in MPICH 1.1.1 and in HP MPI 1.4. It also works with SGI MPI 3.1 and higher and with NEC MPI. How to obtain ROMIO ------------------- * If you are using MPICH or HP MPI, you need not download ROMIO separately. Instead, get the latest versions of MPICH (1.1.1) and HP MPI (1.4) in which ROMIO is included. You can download MPICH 1.1.1 from http://www.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/mpich . Information on how to obtain HP MPI 1.4 is available at http://www.hp.com/go/mpi . * If you are using other MPI implementations, such as SGI MPI or NEC MPI, you can download ROMIO from http://www.mcs.anl.gov/home/thakur/romio . Please send any questions and bug reports to romio-maint@mcs.anl.gov . Sincerely, Rajeev Thakur Rusty Lusk Bill Gropp http://www.mcs.anl.gov/home/thakur/romio
