My experience (one data point) is no.  To get jumpshot to work, I had to
install JDK (and uninstall kaffe).  I obtained JDK 1.1.6 from
http://www.blackdown.org/ who has Sun's blessing to do the Linux port.  The
latest they have there is JDK 1.1.7 and are bughunting with JDK 1.2.
