I have successfully compiled PVM 3.3.11 on a couple of IRIX6.2 machines.
The first thing I would check is to make sure that the environment 
variable PVM_ARCH is set correctly (try SGI64).  

Also, has all of your system software been installed correctly on your SGI?
I know that when I initially tried to compile PVM, it didn't work because
some compiler libraries were missing.

What kind of message do you get when compiling?
