Yes, there have been some problems in the past, but it appears to be
fairly stable now.  See the Linux-SMP page
(http://www.uk.linux.org/SMP/title.html) for more. Make sure you use a
new kernel (best appears to be 2.0.1 - 2.0.14) but do not
use 2.0.15-2.0.20 (there is a definite problem here).  No conclusions
drawn on 2.0.21+ yet or the development 2.1.X versions.

I know Linus is involved in this, but most of the SMP work is done by
Alan Cox.
