At Supercomputing '96 in Pittsburgh, Cornell Theory Center demonstrated
a sort of "Parallel Toolbox" for Matlab, a message passing facility plus
some utility functionalities, if I remember well they were directly
usable in the array notation.
I was told that the Toolbox was to be released to the public (free, I
think) around March '97, but I forgot to check.
While this parallel toolbox was presented as a teaching aid, I had
the impression that some real work can be done with it, like analysis
of distributed data without gathering them on a single system.
Hope this helps
