The computers I am using are all pentiums running Linux. I've have two machines which are identical in there setup, ie. my 'HOME' directory and the location of the PVM_ROOT, and one other machine which has a different 'HOME' address but the same relative location of PVM_ROOT to HOME. I can't get PVM to join the 'different' machine with the other two machines with either executing the add command. I have tried a number of different variations of the 'dx=...' in the hostfile but all still give 'Can't start pvmd' error. I have checked I can do a rsh to all other machine. I tried to find the correct 'dx' string to use by testing it with the two machines which work together. However, as soon as I specify a dx command I get the 'Can't start pvmd' error when trying to add the machines. Here are the dx commands which I have tried, host2 (this works without a dx string) host2 dx=~/pvm3/lib/LINUX/pvmd3 host2 dx=$HOME/pvm3/lib/LINUX/pvmd3 host2 dx=/home/SWISH/pvm3/lib/LINUX/pvmd3 Any suggestions would be appreciated.
