I'm playing around with the same setup and I'm pretty sure you apply the
patches to the unix side.

read the note above the patches carefully
I was unable to get them to work, but you should be able to get around
this by updating  to
pvm3.4_beta4 on the unix side, this is what I'm playing with now, I'll
let you know how it works
