Myrinet is a gigabyte networking technology which is about the
same price as Fddi, but with switches everywhere. You could get
Myrinet for 3 machines for about $6,000.

However, Fast Ethernet is so cheap that you might as well try
it and see how well it works before deciding to spend big $ on
another technolgy.
