hi, i'm a newcomer to this field and am planning to give a small
introduction to either MPI or PVM as part of my course work. i got some
pretty basic questions about the 2 -

1. which of the 2 is better suited for a distributed model of computing
as compared to a MPP architecture?

2. which one is easier to learn?

3. which one is easier to obtain, setup and experiment with?

4. does learning anyone of them first make it easier to learn the other?

5. is MPI going to bring about the end of PVM? ( i have read up a bit on
PVM but don't know much about MPI)

any answers to the above questions, or any info. in general will be
appreciated. thanks in advance,

gautam
