After installing the pvm-package and starting the console
I tried to add some slaves...
First I tried to work with the RESKIT rshd daemon, but I didn't
seem to work correctly. Then I got the test version of the
ATAMAN rexec daemon. The error was
something like
work() run = STARTUP, timed out waiting for master
but the pvm was running in the beginning...
The pvm daemon produced a pvmd file in the temp directory of the
client with the user rights of the local administrator instead of
the domain administrator. So I had to change the user rights manually
to delete this file again.

Afterwards I tried to do the startup with so=ms manually.
I got an error message
RegQueryValueEx Error No 2
It would be quite useful to know which value was to be read.
(The content of token)
There's also a function called FormatMessage in the Windows API to
translate Error No 2.

Even with this really nice Installation tool it was easier to
install pvm on a HP-UX cluster. The main problem for me is not
pvm but the incompleteness of the operation system. (Windows NT 4.0)
With Windows95 it might be even worse, but who is using Windows95
for parallel computing?

Is there already an announcement about the pvm-version of rshd?

Did anyone make some better experiences? (I hope so)

Bye
	Martin

I don't know if it's only here, but I receive more strange XXX-articles
in the pvm newsgroup than related articles...
