From: "smoker" Newsgroups: comp.parallel.pvm Subject: Novice Needs Help.... Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 21:10:33 -0400 Message-Id: <362be5b7.0@news.zoomnet.net> I am not a programmer. I find this very limting in running PVM on win98/95.....(g) I cannot get it to run after a I reboot. When I do get it to run and try to add host I get either no such host or can't start pvmd.......My k5 166 doesn't even like to run it at all. My machines on the network include pentium mmx200 and two k6 200's. The three 200's will run it. Not connecting to each other. Then when I reboot it won't run at all. It makes an mksocs connection and then starts in with bad file descriptors. I have Visual C++ and don't know how to use it. I do not have the docs. A friend lent it to me so I could recompile. Is there something I need to recompile? Something specific that is. Please e-mail responses to me, if there are any, to retromax@zoomnet.net Thank you very much for any assistance anyone can provide. I just can't make much sense of the documentation on the net or the man pages. I have used linux enough to know how to be dangerous, but am not running it anymore. I have the feeling it would run easier on x-windows...... Well, thanks again..... Patrick Bennett
