the pvm enviromentals PVM_XXXX are set in the shell profile on rh 5.2 the
users
~./bash_profile

set the variable (PVM_XXXX) and export it when using bash the tcsh shell is
alittle different
but instructions should be in the man page for whatever shell you might be
using.
