I've had a lot of trouble getting PVM, AIX 4.3.x and shared-memory to work
together.  My advice is to use AIX46K as your PVM_ARCH (and recompile a
version for that arch).  This isn't ideal (i.e. could be significantly
slower than MP version) but at least the code will run.  And, since the
free pvm doesn't use the SP Switch, you won't be running near peak speed
anyway.
