		       Carnegie Mellon University

The PSciCo project on Advanced Language Technology for Scientific
Computing, under the direction of Guy Blelloch, Robert Harper, Peter
Lee, and Gary Miller is looking for a postdoctoral researcher.
Applicants should have background and interests in one or more of the
following areas: 

  - parallel algorithms, especially hulls, n-body problems, mesh generation,
etc.
  - interactive scientific computing systems, such as Matlab, Mathematica,
etc.
  - functional programming, especially in ML or related languages.
  - parallel programming, especially in NESL or related languages.
  - design and implementation of compilers for ML, NESL, or related
languages

The ideal candidate will have credentials in scientific computing and
a lively interest in advanced programming languages and language
theory.  The appointment is initially for one year with a potential
renewal for a second year.  Salary is negotiable and commensurate with
experience. 

The PSciCo project is working to demonstrate the viability and
benefits of advanced languages for scientific, with an emphasis on
interactive development and prototyping of meshing problems.  Please
