                         *************

Bids to Host the Euro-Par 2001 conference are now requested.

The Euro-Par Steering Committee at its next meeting in September 1999, at
Toulouse, will consider bids to host Euro-Par 2001. Euro-Par is an
annual conference merging and replacing three major conference series
that evolved with the development of Parallel and Distributed Computing,
namely: PARLE, CONPAR and VAPP, all of which started in the early
1980s. Euro-Par therefore provides the major European venue for the
presentation of research results in this area. For more on the Euro-Par
conference series, see the Euro-Par Web site:

  http://www.fmi.uni-passau.de/europar/

Institutions wishing to make a bid should be able to provide the usual
facilities to run a conference for between 200 and 400 delegates
including both plenary sessions and at least five parallel streams. If
you are planning to make a bid, you should obtain detailed guidelines
from the Chairman of Euro-Par Steering Committee in advance. Details of the
format of the conference will be decided by the programme and organisation
committee for the conference in each year, but would usually include:

  tutorials
  key note presentation
  invited papers (45 minutes)
  long presentations (30 minutes)
  normal presentations (15 minutes)
  poster sessions
  panels
  problem sessions

Bids should include details of the facilities to be used, details of
access (i.e. local airport and transfer to conference centre etc.), a
draft budget based on a break-even figure of 300 delegates and a brief
supporting case which takes account of each of the evaluation criteria
listed below. The budget should not include details of the publication
of the proceedings but should indicate what is inclusive in the delegate
fee (e.g., refreshments, lunches, etc.).

Bids should not exceed four A4 pages in length but may include, as
appendices, brochures or other printed material concerning the locale
and conference facilities, if these are available. Also if the
organisation submitting the bid has a WWW server then reference to the
home page should be given. Bids will be evaluated using the following
criteria:

  Price
  Academic reputation
  Level of involvement
  Sponsorship
  Transport and accessibility
Maintaining a balance between different European countries
Experience of the organisation in hosting such events

Bids are open to all European countries, including those countries of
Central and Eastern Europe.

Bids must be submitted by 30 June 1999 in electronic form to R Perrott
(R.Perrott@qub.ac.uk), Chairman of the Steering Committee from whom further
information may be obtained.
Appendices (one copy only) may be sent by post to the address below and
will be made available to Steering Committee members at the evaluation
meeting.
