BIDM.Asset.Abstract FAST is currently under development by members of the Numerical Aerodynamics Simulation (NAS) Division at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA 94035-1000. It is a software environment for analyzing Computational Fluid Dynamics data. FAST consists of a collection of separate programs (modules) that run simultaneously and allow the user to examine the results of numerical simulations by loading data files, performing calculations on the data, visualizing the results of these calculations, and constructing scenes of 3D graphical objects that may be animated and recorded. The approach used in FAST is to create an environment of compatible, minimally overlapping modules, each with its own purpose and functionality, but with the ability to share its data with the other modules. All of the modules in the FAST environment have a consistent, easy-to-use, highly interactive user interface (using the Panel Library developed at Ames). FAST is flexible and extensible: the environment can be custom configured and new modules can be developed and added to it. META
