Computer Aided Parallelisation Tools (CAPTools)
- Abstract
- CAPTools is a semi-automatic parallelization tool which has been developed primarily to aid in the parallelisation of existing serial Fortran 77 computational mechanics software. CAPTools analyses the serial code and, with user interaction, generates a parallel Fortran 77 code very similar to the original serial code but with communication calls inserted and modifications to the code that will allow it to run on a parallel processing system.

- CAPTools is currently available for the following machines: SUN workstations running Solaris 2.3+, SGI workstations running IRIX 3.1+. The CAPTools communication library is currently available for the following parallel environments: Inmos C Toolset versions for Parsys T9000 systems, Transtech Paramid, PVM 3.x, 2.4.x, Transputer 3L f77 parallel environment, MPI. Implementations for other parallel environments or systems can be created as required very easily.
