This directory contains the software tools needed to compile the Pablo Performance Analysis Environment; most are particular versions of the Free Software Foundation's GNU code. Although these tools are readily available via ftp from many sites on the Internet, we have placed copies here for your convenience. In addition, variations in different tool releases can introduce (or fix) tool bugs. These variations, coupled with different tool configuration options, can often make reproducing a development environment difficult. It is for these reasons that we are making available our configuration of the GNU tools. If you do not have the GNU `gzip' package, grab that file first. You can use `uncompress' and `tar' to unpack it. Compile and install `gzip', you'll need it (or at least `gunzip') to unpack any of the other tools. The `.gz' file name suffix indicates a file compressed with `gzip', as opposed to the `.Z' from `compress'.
